多功能型的檔案總管替代軟體：FreeCommander 2008.06b，它是一款免費、綠色、支援簡繁體中文的軟體，除了主要的雙視窗檔案管理介面外，還附加了許多相關的額外功能和更
進階的設定。
雖然還不到 Total Commander 的境界，但以免費軟體來說也算不錯了。
不過我們這些免費的使用者，2008.06b 的功能也足夠我們拿來代替Windows內建的檔案總管了。
FreeCommander 的功能特色：
支援簡繁體中文：FreeCommander內建了簡繁體中文。
不過對於繁體使用者來說，一開始安裝時可能會看到亂碼，因為在安裝介面的部分只有支援簡體中文，所以我們安裝時先選英文，等到安裝完成執行程式後，FreeCommander會依照
我們的系統自動切換成繁體中文，非常方便。
雙視窗瀏覽：這是所有檔案總管替代軟體的基本配備，FreeCommander同時支援目錄樹，雙視窗可以橫列和縱列變化，在視窗空白處雙擊滑鼠左鍵，可以回到上一層目錄。
分割欄工具列：在兩個視窗介面中間可以開啟分割欄，這是一個很好用的附加工具列，建議大家要開啟。
你可以到「設定」－「顯示」－「分割欄」裡，把每個選項都打勾（這裡寬度一詞翻譯錯了）。
透過這個分割欄，我們可以快速的對調視窗、移動複製檔案、以及開啟我的最愛資料夾，分割欄下方的資源回收桶圖示，讓你可以透過拖曳的方式快速將檔案丟進回收桶中。
這個分割欄的位置設計得很好，在兩個視窗中間，剛好是最靠近我們平常進行檔案管理的地方，可以節省許多滑鼠移動操作時間。
快速系統功能選單：FreeCommander 預設的工作列按鈕都非常實用，我們基本上不需再花時間去調整工作列了。在圖形工作列的最右邊是預設的系統按鈕，你可以在這裡打開「控
制台選單」、「開始功能表」、「桌面選單」、「系統重要目錄選單」等等，讓你可以直接在 FreeCommander 裡完成更多工作。
我的最愛資料夾、檔案過濾：這也是替代性檔案總管必備功能，FreeCommander的我的最愛，可以同時設定左右視窗要顯示的資料夾，也就是可以同時快速開啟兩個資料夾。
瀏覽歷史清單：只要在作用中視窗以滑鼠左鍵點擊上方的路徑列，就可以拉開瀏覽歷史清單，方便你回到之前的資料夾。
常用工具設定：你可以設定常用的外部工具，為他們設定快捷位置。
內建螢幕擷圖功能：可以擷取全螢幕或手動設定範圍，圖檔可以選擇JPG或PNG。
內建檔案分割：在我的試驗裡，幾十到幾百MB的檔案分割是沒有什麼問題，還可以建立自動還原的執行檔。不過真的很大的檔案，或進階的分割，或許還是用 GSplit 會好一點。
內建檔案解壓縮：可以直接在FreeCommander裡面解開 ZIP、RAR、CAB的壓縮檔案。也可以將檔案壓縮為ZIP檔。
這個功能也可以利用其視窗直接觀看壓縮檔裡面的圖片與內容。
檔案MD5檢查碼：可以建立和校驗檔案的 MD5 檢查碼。
檔案碎紙機：在「檔案」－「抹除」裡，可以徹底刪除檔案，讓其他軟體無法還原。
快捷建設定：所有的功能都可以設定鍵盤快速鍵，或者你可以使用其預設的。

基本上以免費軟體來說，FreeCommander的功能算是很完善了。不過這麼豐富的功能，當然它的開關、執行速度可能比Windows預設的檔案總管稍慢，佔用資源也比較多，不過和它
